Launching digital cable operating system from the first day of November

The Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Hasan Mahmud has called upon the concerned to implement the digital cable operating system in Dhaka and Chattogram from November 1. He made the call at a meeting with the Association of Television Channel Owners’- ATCO on Monday. The minister said the cable operators have already been asked to digitalize the cable operating system in Dhaka and Chattogram by October 30. They will have to implement this method from November 1. The meeting was attended by Television Owners Association, Broadcast Journalists Forum, Cable Operators and Distributors. Noting that there is no impediment to running 24 foreign channels provided by Clean feed; he said that 24 foreign TV channels are sending clean feeds, which are being broadcasted by Akash DTH. There is no obstacle for others to broadcast these. If no one runs a clean feed, the terms of the license will be violated. He commented that those who have taken down link permission should run a clean feed in the interest of the business. Warning cable operators, the minister said thousands of foreign companies had applied for cable operator licenses. If the operators of the country violate the conditions and revoke their licenses, others will be given a chance. Referring to the IP TVs as a demand of the time, he said, “There is no need for hundreds of IP TVs. Their activities will not be allowed to be conducted like mushrooms. IP TVs must broadcast with the registration from the government. To this end, the government is preparing a registration policy.
